Hey! I want to prepare ZnO Aluminum doped thin films via the sol Gel Process. Most Literature uses Aluminum Isopopoxide dissolved in Alcohol along with Zinc Acetate. However, I was not able to completely dissolve Aluminum Isopopoxide in either ethanol or isopropanol. Hence, I had to go to alternatives.
Now my solution consists of Zinc Acetate Dihydrate, Aluminum Nitrate Nonahydrate dissolved in distilled water alongside Monoethanolamine stabilizer. Is Distilled Water suitable for sol gel process and compatible with MEA because I could not find literature which suitably describes it.
hi, "Improvement in structural, electrical, and optical properties of Al-doped ZnO nanolayers by sodium carbonate prepared via solgel method" this is an article from one of my friend that recently got published and i remember during his research he said me that how hard it was preparing this film , though he use ethanol as solvent at 50c.
so I don't have an absolute answer for your question but if your goal is providing this film to do some work with them like application or .... you can use this article as a good references.
I have not done this reaction but, however, I know that Al cation is hydrolyzed in water and you may end with Al hydroxide. So you can not change the procedure, try to fine the solids you are using and perhaps you have to use more solvent than the amount mentioned in the refetence.
