I am providing below a recent comment appeared in Nature providing a link between 3D-organization and corruption in public research centers as a basis of reflection and discussion. There are many examples of the pyramidal organization both in the developed and in development countries where the “Boss-corruption” system decides for the outcome of the “research’. This implies very famous research centers. To my opinion this system needs to be stopped, the facts need to be known and the persons involved at any level of research, including research directors and presidents of academic centers need to be known. Your testimony is welcome. My proposition is that we need to stop the corruption in Science.

I appreciate your answer and your comment. I do not think that the percentage of GDP used in science is critical - it may suggest that in these countries - and if data are correct – the respect for Education implies a respect for integrity in Science. This needs to be answered accordingly. The importance is not only to understand if corruption in science is basically diverse or not from other social domains but to confirm that corruption is a major problem in Science and a barrier to innovation. This can be done so to liberate creatiivty and stop the pyramidal organization of scientific and research centers.
Exactly, corruption the major problem of scientific integrity in public and academic research centers. I agree "Simply, where advancement based on merit is the rule and favouritism the exception, governments and markets alike promote value, and prosperity results. In places where such a system fails to take hold, social allocation is directed preferentially rather than ethically. In these contexts, science and research are marginalized because those in power fear that talent threatens their main aim— controlling access to public and private resources. Governments that buy political support do not invest much in education and research". (When people have no other choice, they just leave the corrupt place.)

Let me bring some fine resources about research integrity which I have received today.
Invoking external pressure does not absolve researchers from their responsibility in the case of scientific fraud or even when displaying unethical behaviour. But it shows that beyond that personal responsibility, the entire research system is not currently adequate to support greater level of research integrity....
