Especially when it comes to literature and cinema, I've come across a great deal of highly academic-like videos on Youtube.com. One example that stands out is Rob Ager's channel, Collative Learning. I don't know what academic background he has (if any), but in essence, his videos analyse films, most often science fiction, in a very scholarly manner. Would you cite videos as such in your papers?

It's best, rather than use the link as a single source that provides 'evidence' as something like 'there are a variety of online resources that assist the illustration of ... - such as... - and then identify one or two resources. It is then regarded as 'supplementary' material - rather than direct evidence.
Definitively, no. They content is surely scholar, but the rest of it, lights, filming and acting isn't generally even professional. And if there is something I can't stand is a badly done documentary criticizing movies. But, on a more general level, I would only include videos if no writings are available. And generally those videos are plainly awful on the filming level. They easily catch the viewer, that have almost no effort to do to get the info. The same way, I dislike predigested food.

I agree with @ Dean Whitehead
You are not using youtube as a source. Your source is either corporation, group, or individual who produced the video. You just found it on youtube, which is the medium, not the source.
