In my opinion, I find it ethically wrong for reviewers and sometimes editors to request inclusion of their papers in article by authors. What I have observed recently is that, the acceptability of articles most times rely substantially on the author's willingness to incorporate these articles which sometimes have no correlation with the study being considered.

I would like to know, even if it's the new norm, what should be the modest amount to recommend, plus, why do editors not consider if such papers align with the study's objective before aligning with the reviewers comments?
