To keep on top of trends within my field (Pastoral Counseling) I have been reading some of the biblical counseling literature. The premise is that the only thing a Christian requires is the wisdom of scripture. Based on this premise its practitioners propose a model of counseling that depends on the counselor interpreting and applying scripture to the life of the counselee. In addition, this approach to counseling depends heavily on the didactic portions of scripture. Thus raising the question "Is Biblical Counseling Biblical or counseling?" I have my thoughts on the matter but I am interested in reading what others think.
