Global discourses of sustainability and post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals tend to be based on the Brundtland definition (meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs) or focus on specifically environmental aspects. Indigenous communities seem to have very different worldviews e.g. deep interconnectedness of human beings, nature and spirit, and different understandings of time ('Dreamtime', connection to ancestors, responsibility to the seventh generation). If anyone is looking at the connection between indigenous values and sustainability indicators I would love to hear from you, especially if you can provide any references.
