Which suitable type of interaction should be used between composite top face sheet, foam and lower face sheet in Abaqus and how we can make it? How do I model the skins as S8R elements and the interface as COH3D8 elements?
You can for example make 3 partitions (one for the top skin, one for the core and one for the bottom skin) in your 3D part or define 3 parts (one for the top skin, one for the core and one for the bottom skin) and you tie together the different parts.
If you want to study the decohesion between the core and the skin you have to use cohesive elements.
There are some different types of constraints in Abaqus, as Hamid Naghibi suggested, TIE constraint is a good one to start with, but not the best one. If you manage to receive zero errors, this time create a "contact" instead of "constraint", try "sticking" (no sliding) in the shear direction, and also in the normal direction; which is what we want for composite layers. This might give you some convergence problem, so if it gives, try a mix match of tie and contact together. This way the part will carry more load and show the mechanical response closer to the real one.
