Recent research has shown that the behaviour of swimmers is an important factor in the release of anthropogenic pollutants in swimming pool water. The next step in my research is an attempt to change this behaviour of swimmers by making them realize that they personally have an influence on the pool water quality and that they will also enjoy the benefits of lower DBP concentrations as a result. We are planning an experiment in a Dutch swimming pool where we first will determine the perception of swimmers towards pool water treatment, in the assumption that this perception is wrong. Feeding the swimmers with information on pool water treatment will be the next step and monitoring the swimmers behaviour and the changes in pool water quality is the final step in this study. During this study we will use questionnaires to determine the perception of swimmers and we are thinking of using water counters to monitor the use of showers and toilets as behavioural effects. Although we have a good idea on how to approach this study, it would be great to get additional ideas from the international swimming pool network on researchGate to improve the quality of this study.
