Suppose we have 5-point Likert Scale for Locus of Control questions. How do we then interpret the scores for deciding between Internal or External Locus of Control?

Thank you for your answer. Very comprehensive indeed. Yes we have already identified the internal and external scores for each question. In fact we have categorized the questions into four constructs namely Academic Commitment, Academic Motivation, Academic Performance and Career Aspirations. And this study is conducted on a large sample of MBA students in India.
Q1. "A subject however tough it is, if I prepare well I will succeed with top grade in that subject?" Rating Scale 5 4 3 2 1 (Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree)
Q2. "I have my own limitations, hence no extra inputs or guidance will lead me to success in academics.". Rating Scale 5 4 3 2 1 (Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree)
Q1. If a respondent agrees with the question it indicated her or his internal locus of control ('it is up to my effort and work so I could excel - clearly internal locus of control). If not, then external locus of control is indicated ('no matter what effort I will put in, I will fail as I am as stupid as a shoe' [sorry for Polish saying not exactly transferable into English - pretty self-explanatory though].
Q2 - seems to be the other way around, those who agree with it are characterised with external locus, and those who disagree with internal one.
So while creating total scores one of them should be recoded so the higher scores on both would indicate the same (either internal or external locus).
Dear Prof. Xaba: We are using a 5-point Likert scale as state above. Are you referring about the scores for deciding Internal or External Locus? We are not very clear as to how to decide the locus from the scores.
