This surely depends on the vehicle! If the vehicle is V2G equipped there is no installation cost, you just connect it to the mains. If it isn't then you have to install the V2G interface yourself and doing this will probably invalidate the vehicle warranty. Check this carefully before doing anything!

V2G means having a bidirectional charger/discharger for your vehicle battery. It might be possible to use a PV inverter IF the voltages match correctly - I believe vehicle batteries are typically 300 - 350V, so this is the input the inverter will have to handle. Then you have to work out an algorithm to switch it on and off. While doing this should cost a lot less than $US5000 nevertheless you are dealing with high power and quite lethal volltages so only attempt it if you know what you are doing.
