A sample of stool was sent for AFB. We stained it with modified Z-N staining using 5% acetic acid as de-colorizing agent. We didn't found AFB but oocyst of cryptosporidium ( green arrow) found along with good number of candida. In case of chronic diarrhoea, most of the patients are being treated with different antibiotics without any obvious indication. So, Candida ( red arrow) overgrowth is very common, which may be missed in the diagnosis. In Bangladesh reporting on cryptosporidium infection is very rare.
La antibioticoterapia prolongada en pacientes con diarrea crónica representa una disbiosis de la microbiota intestinal, lo que trae consigo un debilitamiento del sistema inmune, prueba de ello es la presencia de dos indicadores de inmunodeficiencia como son Cryptosporidium y Candida. Por ello siempre antes de medicar es conveniente solicitar los examenes de laboratorio correspondientes para un mejor diagnóstico y tratamiento.
