I would like to use a modeling language, or alternatively a "simpler" visualization tool, which allows me not only to describe the core "procedural" steps of the methodology I am developing, but to include the different actors involved within its use, the data they need, the actions to be performed and the decision to be made, along with possible loops of these steps.

To me this perspective has to be put in the visual outline of the methodology because it is supposed to support a decision making process.

My only guess so far is using UML, but I don't have experience with that, as well as I don't have research experiences with other modeling languages. Therefore your thoughts about the use of UML or other suitable modeling languages for such an application would be appreciated.

Moreover, it would be very interesting to have clues on the kinds of problems suitable to be modeled by the different modeling languages available.

Thank you everybody.
