The most important skills for the XXII century seem to me to be:
Develop the capacity for independent learning, self-motivated and self-evaluated
Meaningful learning, that is, for life
Integral development of multiple transversal and horizontal capacities, according to their field of professional experience.
Learning and application of scientific and technological advances, especially those derived from Artificial Intelligence, to enhance their own Human Intelligence.
Maintain and develop their creative capacity and technological innovation; pondering the ability to transfer knowledge from the theoretical to the practical in the short term. T
hat is, to generate new knowledge and apply it immediately in the development and development of technology for the benefit of humanity.
Technical skills will evolve with time and so will young researchers , but from what I see soft skills , the skill that makes us more humane and tolerant are essential .
Two trends in the 22nd Century will dominate as they beginning to dominate. Big data are available, problems are becoming complex and multidisciplinary teams are needed to solve problems. So the important skills include: collaboration, shared understanding, team work. The king of classic skills used to be the ability to carry a research project from conception to publication individually, including formulation of questions/hypothesis, data collection, analysis, interpretation and writing.
Computer related technology is very important in ophthalmology. All important techniques, whether diagnostic (such as OCT, HRA, HRT, perimetry, newer ones like:automated gonioscopy) and surgical techniques (such as femtosecond laser cataract surgery, Corneal refractive surgeries and newer ones such as: robotic surgeries) are all computer based. AI will take these methods to the next level.
In the 22nd century? This means we are talking about skills after 80 years. This period is more than the period since the invention of computers, software, satellites, mobile communication and millions of inversions. Skills that are necessary after 80 years are not clear but the only sustainable skill that will continue and develop in all times is the ability to design and conduct experiments, using the available devices, tools, equipment and software packages or any tool we still do not know. 80 years are quite long time to predict what are the necessary skills required at that time
You will live in virtual world. And also some will live in moon. Few will live in some other planets. So your skill set today will not fit after 80 years. Even the skill set we need to analyse after at least 60 years.
In an environment where technology and science are developing with such rapid acceleration, I think it is not easy to comment for research in the 22nd century. But the issues that will come forward; think that there will be environmental problems, health, space studies, unemployment and poverty. I think that teamwork and communication will maintain their importance as a skill as well as using intensive technology.
Proficiency in Research Design, data collection and Data analysis, deep understanding of matter at atomic and subatomic level, proficiency with Quantum information processing and associated machine learning tools.

Understanding exponentiality will be essential, i.e. advanced cognitive and creative skills do matter, like applied scientific methodology and writing competencies.
For any scientific research is a day to day progressive observation & with the passage of scrutiny it may bring out another research action .So research or one or another way becomes an action continuing program .It is in this line sometime back I have expressed my views for researcher in scientific skill which I submit herewith for your perusal
When a researcher opts for his study in the research it is very natural that he must have any inclination, study ,& the knowledge for the scientific skills .When he plan for his research & after undergoing his quest for research he must be having all the requisite information & knowledge for his researcher .
Let us define skill according to www.dictionary.com " the ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well: Carpentry was one of his many skills". However, skill is not the only factor that define a researcher' ability to conduct research. Research is performing a methodical study in order to prove or disprove a hypothesis, or answer a specific question. So, according to this definition only the type of research helps in identifying the required skills.
Can we define for example the skills for the following research scientists
Biologist
Physicist
ecologist
hydrologist
Computer scientist
etc...
May be they have one common skill which is computer. But, this skill is limited for some, but wider for others
Statistical design and analysis of experiments, the ability to handle large data sets and make sense from the results, the ability to distinguish real data from fake data, willingness to keep abreast of the latest computing technolgies are some of the skills
Aprendizaje y aplicación de avances científicos y tecnológicos, especialmente las derivadas de la Inteligencia Artificial, para mejorar su propia inteligencia humana.
Education, knowledge, data interpretation and analysis and development of skills such as English language, communication skills, interaction is very important factors to development the researchers skills.
Human Nature skill (Behaviour/Attitude). The rest just bonuses (Tech advances, ICT, infrastructures etc). Without human function brain nothing on earth prosper. Thanks to mankind Super Creator.
The 22nd Century is a long way off, but it could very well be dystopian. With ocean levels rising due to global warming, many research programs of a theoretical nature and/or with long timelines and insufficient immediate applications may be sidelined in favor of practical engineering research with short term goals that can be quickly implemented in dealing with the infrastructure problems of submerged coastal population centers. Much funding for social sciences might be diverted from projects concerned with issues of quality of life and rehabilitation to measures for policing, confinement, and control. Low-key backyard engineering skills and hands-on know-how will make a large comeback in the form of tinkering with, repairing, repurposing, or recycling cast off technology. Necessity will become the mother of invention with a vengeance.
