Recently, fluorinated compounds are widely used to reduce the moisture sensitivity of perovskite materials (resulting in enhanced stability). Yuhang Liu et al. and, Hiufen Xu et al. etc.used such fluorinated materials and reported better stability. My question is this how these materials could enhance the stability of perovskite materials. What are the best-fluorinated materials used so far?

It is observed that 2D fluoridated perovskites repel water molecules and thereby can be used to seal the main 3D perovskite layer against moisture. Moisture when absorbed by the 3D perovskites detracts the material and reduce its photoconversion efficiency with time as more moisture is absorbed in the perovskite.
fluorinated two dimensional perovskite are nonpolar and therefore do not pull the water molecules but it repels them.
So the construction of the cell is a bilayer constructed from 3D major absorber and 2D sheet rejecting the moisture.
