Academician should do research and contribute some useful thing to society, so that the society be benefited.
Academician should teach the students, make them to know the subject, teach the skills which are useful to them in society. They should build the students to higher positions and in the way that these students uses this knowledge not only to develop themselves but to develop the surrounding people.

The academicians shape the future of a society by training the future leaders in a suitable direction as perceived by them in the present time. This will also depend on the present challenges and available resources of a precise society.
A useful academician will advice people on a subject of common interest. There used to be an expert on radiation effects who gave warnings that turned out to be accurate and his advice was eagerly sought by the public and the media for decades (in Greece).

Academician can contribute to the society by teaching to students, making them educated, become enterpreneurs and good citizens and they also can take up research projects which contribute to society for societal development.
Academician should contribute knowledge to students as well as to the surrounding people. If the students are educated in a clear, precise and in a logical way, the students flourish and they help the people in society. Academicians can help directly people in society by doing project which will be quite practically useful and helpful.
