Dear all,

I've been trying to import a 2D geometry to COMSOL Multiphysics, in order to perform an eigenvalue analysis of a periodic structure, following the Bloch theorem periodicity.

The structure basically is a sinusoidal square lattice (as presented on the figure in annex), which is generated in SolidWorks and exported as a DXF and opened in COMSOL. However, when I import the geometry, several actions need to be done in order to set it for the simulation. For example, due to the existence of curves, many edges are partitioned, which causes problems in meshing the domain.

I wonder if there would be another way to do the geometry import process without having to modify the structure each time since there is an intention to automatize this process. Creating this geometry inside COMSOL is complicated because the software has a limitation on CAD features. Trying to connect directly COMSOL with SolidWorks would be a possibility, however, it only allows us to analyze 3D geometries, and in my case, the intention is to analyze a 2D problem.

Did someone worked out with that before and could provide some insights?

Best regards,

Victor Gasparetto
