If in tissue engineered scaffold, collagen is placed, can that be considered a chemotactic trigger for cells in body to produce indigeneous collagen ?

Most of the cells differentiate and proliferate using Growth Factors. Is it possible that same chemotaxis be used to strengthen the tissue by triggering greater collagen production in the cells due to the presence of collagen in the ECM ?
