Potasium ferrocyanide and postasium ferrocyanide are used in SA-b-gal staining experiments, and I wonder what the two reagents play. I think it's going to play a very important role.
This paper discribes the procidure of different staining processes. Potasium ferrocyanide and postasium ferrocyanide are important for the colour pigment which will be created. There have to be a Fe+ transfer to create either FeII[FeIII(CN)6]2 + 6KCl (Turnblull Blue) or to FeIII4[FeIII(CN)3 + 12KCl (Prussian Blue). Both are blue colours. Hope it answered your question.
