You can query your genes of interest in Human Protein Atlas:https://www.proteinatlas.org/ Type, for example, BRCA2. Click "BRCA2" on top of the list. Go to next page and click "RNA Cell" in Top Right corner of the page. You will arrive at: https://www.proteinatlas.org/ENSG00000139618-BRCA2/cell
You will see that many cell lines express this gene (at the RNA level), including MCF7. By the way, MUCIN1 (MUC1) is expressed in very few cell lines, including MCF7.
Another option. You go to BioGPS portal: http://biogps.org/#goto=welcome
Type BRCA2; then select human BRCA2. Click "Change Dataset" in Right upper corner. Click "Default datasets". Click "NCI60 on U33A, gcrna". You will see that BRCA2 expression in MDA-MB-231 is modest. No data there on MCF7.
It is very well known fact that MDA-MB-231 cell line is a triple negative breast cancer cell line. It does not have any biomarker of HER2, ER. PR. But, the MCF-7 cell line can able to express the HER2 biomarker on the surface of cell membrane. Hence, you can easily identify those cell line which depends on the expression of the HER2 surface biomarker. This is also one of the ways to identify.
