H2O2 is produced at early stationary phase and a batch reactor reaches that comfortably but for a continuous reactor how could I maintain an organism in early stationary phase all the time?? Suggestions please..
Concentration of living cells in batch reactors are higher than continuos. I'm not really related to that cell culture, but usually a lesser cells density leads to less quantity of product. Productivity also follows follows that conduct in most of the cases. So the best results should be obtain in continuous operation mode with cells recycling or in fed-batch mode, where you can avoid substrate inhibition. But in any case I recommend to check cell kinetics, so you will be able to know if in both cases you are perfoming at maximum rates; otherwise you will have to modify culture conditions, like pH, temperature or simply substrate concentration. PD: other important thing to check is dilution rate, so you can assure what flow rate is the one which give you higher productivity.
