Why so? Its not going to change on every half an hour...I hope its getting changed once in a week..I meant the RG score. Anyway RG is good in keeping researchers on good interactions.
I think that when RG implements scientific versions of FarmVille and CandyCrush, it will be time to leave. But, until then, I find that the site has useful sides.
Why should be look into RG so frequently? RG will send you information that relate to your topics of interest frequently. It is so frequent that I even feel maybe too much. A good RG credit can not provide you a grant or increase chane of success. Only solid data and good publications can make us succeed as scientist.
I think RG is a good means to exchange scientific ideas and get thoughtful explanations. If you ask a good question, some answers are quite good. So far so good. Just hope that the RG management won't take advantage of our profile info. in a later day!
Enjoy work is not bad. However, certainly RG score changed only once a week. Even more, I found interesting tool to share and to obtain scientific articles. Even more, to be in contact with people with shared interests on specific scientific fields. I consider it very valuable and useful, besides some people can be "addicted" to be online checking information at RG.
I strongly agree, I have several profile (Research ID, ORCID, Google Profile, Frontier, Spanish Account: National and Local). I became to be freak out with such many profiles...I did not upload more papers since 2012....it's enough
Yes, We must not bother about the RG score. The most important part is what we share to our scientific society and ultimately to the humankind. We need be morally attached with the research activity. It is service to the mankind not a RG score racing.
It depends how you see RG, do you see it as (1) a number you are happy with or (2) a forum you are a member in, looking for someone, asking for help and knowledge that you have and are willing to provide or (3) a site where you can find a research partner(s). Remember, numbers never last , they will be gone once we are gone, but a prayer for you from a student or a colleague will last forever. So, it is up to you what you prefer to do.

I think you need to find a 'middle road'. I am very keen on RG because I work mostly in isolation. I have no research group, a fairly niche/new field of study, and a very limited national audience. RG helps me connect with lots of other people from all over the world. It helps me introduce my work to them, and also to interact with topics that involve my previous knowledge & expertise, my on-going knowledge & interest, or topics which invite me to gain new knowledge & interests. I check replies & entries to threads I follow as they arrive, & also check my 'stats' to see how I am performing in relation to others in my institution.
Apart from that, I am not too fussed if people do not 'upvote' my answers - they have much better things to do. I used to worry that my RG score went down (& still does), until I realised that either I have to play the social-media game (interact on a big scale, which for me would be impractical & a bit false), or simply wait until my next paper is out & see a spike in interest & points ;-)
IMO - the negative part of RG is the anonymous downvote facility. For example, the two posts above each have a downvote, even though they say nothing particularly argumentatve, false or contentious. OK, Morteza's post is directly copied from someone else (Adel Amer), but other than 'scholarly debate', I have lost any compulsion to check responses, pass judgement, or seek to improve my score. I like RG, but I can moderate my use to suit my needs.
