For some reasons, I loaded the hand drawing pictures according to the TEM (Figure 1 and 2). The bacteria in the glycocalyx layer were also sometimes observed to be surrounded by filaments (the 3rd picture showed)
Does anyone know what those connecting filaments are (Fig 1 and 2)? Is it possible something like pilli? or something formed through mucus in the glycocalyx layer?
@Shirley: we do not know your location....so one can guess China in the first place....and therefore it might be (a bit) difficult not only to join RG but also to attach a micrograph to your question (you can do that by EDITING your question.....EDIT....find ADD FILE / Search your files - Find the / a suited Image [ remember: either as jpg or Tif....jpg downloads faster than a .tif!) and click - last but not least - "open" THEN DO NOT FORGET to SAVE again your request!! Naturally you can add a micrograph in adding a further reply..... Best wishes and good luck! NB: Anticipating you are talking about a B/W TEM-image/micrograph....?
