Hi,

I think you should start with the simulation of bounded domain in Ansys.

P and S waves are present in solids where one is dealing with unbounded domains (infinite or semi-infinite), ultrasonic waves could be longitudinal (P) or transversal (S) .

You can see this tutorial that consist of a transient analysis of a cantilever beam:

This file has tutorials in many topics, particularly it has a section in explicit dynamics. Explicit refers to the time integration technique, where a forward finite difference is used (and lumped mass matrix are used too):

If you're interested in the simulation of unbounded domains you will need to satisfy Sommerfield Radiation Condition that could be done with: Absorbent Finite Element, Infinite Element or Boundary Elements.

Acoustic wave propagation is available in COMSOL Multiphysics software. I had performed a simulation on ultrasonic materials by subjecting it to an ultrasonic frequency of 50kHz. Hope this software helps u better.

What is the problem Mr. Karan is Comsol not providing you with the options to pass through longitudinal waves ?? Why not in Simulia Abaqus then??? I will try to do the same in Comsol if you provide with me the details of your work.

My problem is simple.i want to simulate these

wave(as in paper attached) for different kind of

plate and then with different media combined

with these plates.Basic idea is calculate how

much signal is attenuated.

Have u read the paper.I m still confused by the paper

and having difficulties in repeating the simulation

present in paper.

I took a look to the paper and this kind of simulation could be done in Comsol, Abaqus, Ansys.

In a hand-made code is not difficult to implement neither.

What's the doubt with the paper?

I have simulated the model that u had given me and its working fine...with COMSOL Multiphysics - 4.2 . I had chosen the option structural mechanics - solid mechanics - time dependent and the option there is always plane strain so no need to worry...Go ahead and if u have any doubts then contact...
