I used befor lime (Ca(OH)2), caustic soda (NaOH) and sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) individually , and i need other reactif to make a comparison study to know the best reactif between them .
about sulfides - if sediments (with sulfides of metals) stay aerated for a long time bacteria can transform sulfides to sulfates and metals will become soluble again.
Mohammed... Precipitation efficiency depends on the solubility of the salts. The heavy metal, HM, contamination in water is usually at low level of concentration. Further, The addition of the precipitating agent must not introduce another pollutant itself to water. Thus, sulfide is not the right choice. We succeeded to precipitate many HM by adding MgO which is only slightly soluble in water and makes the medium alkaline that most of the HM will be precipitated and included with the MgO. Any Mg that may be introduced to water will not be pollutant. The efficiency of removal is reliable. Good luck..
