i am screening Trichoderma spp against Pathogenic fungi of diseased plants (this of which is general and not specific fungi). The main idea here is that, i would be able to identify which Trichoderma spp is more effective to use as biocontrol agents on Agricultural crops.
You have to do dual culture test against any pathogenic fungus. If it is capable to suppress the mycelial growth of pathogens, it will be beneficial.
In addition to dual culture testing, you can perform volatile compound testing using two petri dish bases, one containing the Trichoderma isolate and the other containing the pathogen.
It is much easier to use split petri dishes to test for volatile metabolites.
