first, relation between scent and components is not exactly clear,

second in some condition, components changes to their isomers which have similar effect( not same effect).

Besides mutation, you may tried some stress on the plants. Are you cultivating indoors? I should suggest hidricic shortage in water, than after some time test about camphor yield.
