My 80% MeOH aq extraction of a plant leaves followed by vacuum evaporation and N2 purge resulted thick wax. As most literature express gallic acid equiv (GAE) of total phenolic content (TPC) based on its dry matter, I wonder if there is alternative to express TPC not in terms of dry matter.
Are you sure that there is not some residual water in your extract?
May be it contains a huge quantity of lipids but if is present some water you may try to freez-dry the extract.
I put the the waxy sample in a vacuum desiccator for a few days. I guess no more water left.
Several plant extracts have a stiky-gummy aspect due to the presence of lipidic compounds and/or terpenoids. If you are sure of the complete elimination of solvents you may report the activity on weight of crude plant extract. This may be also be reported on dry/fresh plant material amount which gave the extract.

u make fractionation of the obtained waxy material. disperese in distilled water transfer to separating funnel. add hexane shake to remove waxy matter. continue 2or 3 times for complete removal of wax. now add ethyl acetate to the water layer. shake and repeat 2o3 times for c omplete extraction. comlbine the ethyl acetate fractions. distill the ethyl acetate. u will get dry extract with high content of phenol, flavonoids, coumarins. u can proceed with the planned work.
