Declofenac sodium is degraded by ozone in aqueous media. After 10 min of reaction, solution becomes yellow and then color diminishes with time. Please suggest the reason
Like any other type of (advanced) oxidation process , the target compound is gradually transformed during the reaction. This means that many reaction intermediates will exist in the solution together with the target compound (diclofenac in your case). These reaction intermediates will also be consumed by the oxidising species generated in solution (O3 and HO radicals). If you want to have a better insight in the type of products that are found, you can try to identify them with HPLC-MS or GC-MS.
