Hyperphage is an attractive option, but for 99% of the applications you would obtain excellent libraries and good screening results  with m13KO7 helper phage, which can be readily replicated at the lab. If you are just starting with phage display, I would suggest to use a conventional helper phage. Do you have any special reason to prefer hyperphage related to your particular application? 

Thanks for your answer Gertrudis. I had m13K07 as my alternative helper phage and may well go with that.

The hyperphage was attractive as from what I have read so far it seems to produce better quality antibodies and more of them compared to m13k07 due in part perhaps to its multi display.

I am planning some work on a small-medium size project to produce about 200 different  phage display libraries so using hyperphage for that many libraries may be cost prohibitive. Alternatively I was thinking of using hyperphage for first round of selection and then m13K07 for the other rounds of panning.      

Multidispay is particularly useful to select low affinity or low display  binders. This is helpful to avoid loosing any binder at all, but could even be a disadvantage if you want to focus on high affinity binders. I dont think that the isolation of better quality antibodies using  hyperphage is a general finding, and the result could just be the opposite.

In some laboratories with experience in the use of hyperphage, it is restricted to the rescue of the original libraries and after the first ans subsequent selection rounds they use conventional helper phage.
