I am performing a catalytic reaction. 

I need to separate alcohols (e.g. ethanol, methanol and so on), glycols (ethylene glycol, 1,3 propylene glycol and so on), and some other organic acids from glycerol or sorbitol.

My ex-co-worker brought Agilent Hi-Plex Ca column, but I think I might need Agilent Hi-Plex H column as well, but in my lab I only have one HPLC.

Before I had used guard column -> Agilent Hi-Plex Ca-> packed bed column. series connection. My lab has a limited HPLC system that one pump (can not do gradient mode), one heater, and one RID and 6-way injection. 

It has been possible to separate ethanol and ethylene glycol, before my packed bed column stopped working, but it has found that longer retention time and peak broadness. Unfortunately, my packed bed column stopped working last week. 

So, I'm looking for shorter other columns like a packed bed column because I don't want longer retention and too much broadness. The packed bed column was 30cm long. 

Can you give me some other column selection recommendations?

Is it possible to use dual column not series connection to Agilent Hi-Plex Ca, like using another 6 way port? In this system is it possible to use 30cm long column connection part in heater? If it is possible, do I have to buy another detector and pump?

I know it can be easy to separate by GC, but recommend to use HPLC as soon as possible.
