The prepared nanoemulsion without drug which is an oil is clear , but after adding drug the phase separation occur. please suggest whether any factors is responsible for alteration? S mix
In oil-water separation, two phases are visible. For emulsion preparation, use surfactants such as Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), Sodium stearate, and Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate.
Surfactants for double emulsions (O/W/O or W/O/W)
Use two surfactants: Inner emulsion: Surfactant for the internal interface (depends on whether it’s O/W or W/O inside). Outer emulsion: Surfactant for the continuous phase.
Example for W/O/W: Span 80 (W/O primary) + Tween 80 (O/W secondary).
Example for O/W/O: Tween 80 (O/W primary) + Span 80 (W/O secondary).
