How we can remove chromium and nitrate ion from groundwater?
Nitrate may be successfully removed from water using treatment processes such as ion exchange, biological de-nitrification, and reverse osmosis.

Several treatment processes can remove nitrates from water
1. Biological Denitrification
2. Ion-exchange
3. Distillation
4. Reverse osmosis
Are among the methods used to remove nitrates from the water and the following also some methods used to remove chromium also.
1. Demineralization using a dual-bed ion exchange system.
2. treatment with brine
3. Lime soda softening
5. Electrodialysis
6. Distillation

Arvind Singh Thank you for your participation in this discussion. Stay blessed.
Calcium polysuphide ( 3CaS5 ) can help with Chromium6 by converting it to chromium3. Or Chitinase (from prawn shells)
Cr(OH)3 is ‘non-toxic’. Thus conversion of toxic CrO42- to Cr(OH)3 is a clean-up strategy.
2CrO42- + 3CaS5 + 10H+ -> 2Cr(OH)3(s)+ 15S(s) + 3Ca2+ + 2H2O
Ujjayini ...Nitrate may be exchanged as suggested by Arvind and Chalachew above. Chromium has to be adsorbed by one the published method.
