I am running a transient model in Fluent. I have checked the data sampling box under the run calculation tab. How do I view my time averaged data in CFD-post?
I am trying to plot my average velocity versus location at specific locations in my model. I am also trying to generate contours and streamline plots. As of now, I can only access the data collected at specific time steps.

The data sampling is limited to several parameter only such as volume fraction.

For the other variables, you can write UDF for writing it into UDM (user defined memory) or UDS (user define scalar).

Another way is the use of scheme code for auto-read and export the result for different flow time.

By default ANSYS Fluent is collecting the time-averaged velocity components (mean and RMS values) as well as the 6 Reynolds stresses. In CFD-Post you can click on the button with the 3 tiny dots (to the rigth of the variable selector field), which brings you to the full list of variables being exported from ANSYS Fluent to CFD-Post. There you should find a variable section containing all time-averaged variables.
Nonetheless to say, that these variables are only available, if you have exported them in a CDAT file. The default CAS/DAT file will not contain them.

Thank you Thomas Frank for the suggestion. I cannot seem to locate the button you are referencing. I am using ANSYS 19.1 to do this and I have also attached a screen shot of what my screen in CFD post looks like. I am exporting all data in CDAT files. Thank you for your help!

Although I am not giving you the exact answer of your question. But I think, my answer may help you.
Can you use Tecplot 360 for this ? I frequently calculate time average parameters on Fluent , easily export to Tecplot and generate desirable contour.

Yes ! you can view data by exporting command on Fluent Not on CFD-Post.
In fluent, go ..
1) File.. Export... solution data..
2) Select file type ASCII, (see figure M1)
3) write and save it to any folder (see figure M2)
4) open that file in Notepad (see figure M3)
Now you can view data (see figure M4). you are draw this data on any software like origin, MatLab, Tecplot ect.. You can also copy this data on MS Excel for necessary evaluations.

E.g. for a CFD-Post contour object go to the "Color" tab. There on the right hand side of the "Colored by variable" field you find this button with the three dots, which brings you to the full list of imported variables from the CDAT file. It should be easy for you to locate in the list the subfolder of all time-averaged variables then.
my suggestion is that you can extract data at various time steps and then perform a time averaging technique over a time period corresponding to the taken time steps. even though it is possible to do that for a specified point in the domain but it seems miserable if it performed for the whole domain or through a surface. I think a programmable code to perform the averaging for the extracted data will apparently be a suitable method.
Muhammad Furqan Ali I have exported the tecplot files but I am not understanding how to plot the data from those files. Also how would I know that it is averaged over how many time steps? As in one file there are all values of variable seems to be instantaneous? How to get time average then? Should I import all files at once or I have to import only one file?
