I have 2 problems about local coordinate system in Comsol.
1. how to offset my coordinate system?
2. how to assign local coordinate system on a deformed shape like a bump? I think the boundary system is the appropriate choice but I don't know how to set the tangential vector (to be tangent on each meshes of the deformed shape in the chosen domain or boundary). also what would be the related field in the new coordinate system. for example the x component of the electric field in the global system is Ex. what is the tangential and normal components of the electric field in the new coordinate system?

In order to change the coordinate system you can go to Definition>>>Base Vector System. Also , there are may systems under definitions depends on your case.

Agree with Abbas on 1). For 2) you need two tangential components if you do 3D, so you need to look more into the COMSOL literature to figure out what makes sense for YOUR application. In general, you decide the coordinates system, and you can have it follow a certain perimeter, as far as I remember, via some Parametric description.
