Traditional AI is like a master strategist who can make smart decisions within specific set of rules; .i.e. it is not inventing new ways to do things, but selects from the strategies it was programmed with. Used mainly to analyse data and make predictions. It is smart but not necessarily responsive. Ex: Siri, Alexa which can do a particular job but cannot create anything new.

Generative AI creates new data similar to its training data as they learn to identify underlying patterns in the data set based on probability distribution and when given a prompt, create similar patterns.
