Hello,

I'm performing an impact analysis (Abaqus) on a composite plate where I modeled plies with continuum shell elements (SC8R) and delamination with cohesive surface based behavior.

But, using plane stress elements (SC8R) avoids the transfer of the normal compressive stress related to the impact (sigma 33) which is needed to compute cohesive force at the inferface which is used to model delamination.

I know that an average through the thickness stress in the third direction is computed (SSAVG6) but I can't manage to link it to my cohesive surface behavior.

Does anyone have an idea how I could model that?
