How to understand mRNA expression charts in cbioportal?

I am using cbioportal and I put a query about specific genes in several studies on different cancer types.

In some studies there are charts of mRNA expression compared between different genes: how can I understand these charts?

There is a chart which correlate metilation and expression: how could I understand this kind of correlation?

The tutorials for cBioportal are freely avaialble. I would suggest to understand basics of how this data is generated and analyzed (just dont go into detail, basic is sufficient). There are multiple tools like cBioPortal which you canc use. Further, you may check our recent publication, where we have used multiple simple online tools with links attached.
