It is not recommended to store the adjusted bacterial cell suspension for longer times. EUCAST suggests using the adjusted suspension within 15 min but “always within 60 min of preparation”.
You can store 0.5 McFarland standard at -4 to -8 degree centigrade. Also, microorganism can grow in McFarland standard if allowed to be contaminated.

If you have to store the McFarland set density of bacteria, make the glycerol stocks with 10X desired concentration of cells) and store in -80C. You can thaw anytime by diluting 1:10 and it work work for long time. You just need to activate overnight before using.

I think you cannot store a bacterial suspension after comparing with the Mc Facland standard for a long period of time. Because microbes can still multiply even in saline medium.
