We have a bag of filter tips in our lab from some time ago and we are not sure about its sterility and how it could have been manipulated before. Since I have to do ARN extraction and qPCR, I want to sterilize the tips and get it rid of any nucleases. Manufacturer says they are not autoclavable. Could anyone help me on how to do this? Would UV irradiating be enough?Maybe ethylene oxide? Thank you a lot

How big is the bag?
I would suggest you to include some of those tips in your "to autoclave" batch and give it a try.
Same could be done with other methods such as UV (which might be the best), ethylene oxide etc.
Try to use some of the tips with those sterilization methods and you might evaluate if contamination occurs.
If no major manipulation have occurred I believe that the UV treatment might be just enough.
It would be better to test those just with MilliQ. Since qPCR is very sensitive you might observe contamination quite easily.
