Our results show that the best is to use 1 - (pyrid-4-yl) piperazine instead of DABCO and catalysis of reactions either by CeCl3.7H2O doped sodium iodide or better by Ce (III) supported on a weakly acid acrylic resin. Reaction time is then shortened from several days on the order of hours (for example, synthesis of 2 - (hydroxymethyl) cyclopenta-2-en-1-one from cyclopenta-2-en-1-one and formaldehyde). Both chemicals, it is 1 - (pyrid-4-yl) piperazine in the diacetate form and Ce(III) supported on a weakly acid acrylic resin can be obtained by TauChem Ltd., [email protected].
