I`m Anna, PhD-Student. The subject of my investigation ist the hydra nerve net“.

We are going to stain Hydra neurons with the fluorescent dye DiI.

(1,1′-Dioctadecyl-3,3,3′,3′-tetramethylindocarbocyaninperchlorat).

The following question came up: should we order DiI or Neuro-DiI, or generate the last one by ourselves.

We are hoping, that the Neuro-DiI would stain not only the membranes. Is it possible to generate this kind of a dye by mixing DiI with a commercial available soybean oil?
