How to solve the error massage "a variable specified as multicategorical must has at least three categories" in spss?

Dear Scholars,

Recently, I am trying to use the mediation analysis method. I have downloaded the process 4.2 by Hayes.

During the analysis, I have selected the model no. 8. But it shows the following error messages

“a variable specified as multicategorical must have at least three categories.

a variable specified as multicategorical has more than nine categories.”

But, I don’t use the multicategorical option. Besides, my Y,X,Mediator M variables are continuous (defined as scale), moderator variable W is dichotomous variable (defined as nominal).

Can anyone please help me to solve the problem. Thanks a lot!

Recategorize the variable: If your variable doesn't have enough categories, consider recategorizing it to create more meaningful groupings. You can do this using the "Recode Into Different Variables" option under the "Transform" menu in SPSS.

Check variable properties: Make sure the variable properties are set correctly in SPSS. For example, if your variable is categorical but is being treated as continuous, this could cause the error. You can check and change variable properties under the "Variable View" tab.
