I am modeling steel tube on ansys apdl. In my non linear analysis, when i go to plot result option and check plastic strain then ansys shows me plastic stain value and contour but in deformed i shape nothing is there where ansys shows plastic stain..is there separate option to show plastic deformation. i can understand this..
The deformed shape is based on displacements, not strains, so you cannot plot either the plastic or elastic strain only

I'm agree with Dr. Denis Benasciutti . You can't do that. Because displacements are calculated based on total Strain (EPTO) which includes the elastic, plastic and creep strain (EPEL+ EPPL + EPCR) "only". If you activated the thermal strain and have thermal BCs in your model, then this type of strain is contributing to total strain as well. Unfortunately, there is no option available in ANSYS for calculating or showing "Plastic Displacement" contour.

Something just came to my mind by the way. If you want to see the permanent deformation (displacement ) contour, then you can load and unload the model and extract the displacement contour. This way you can measure the plastic deformation.
