i am modelling simple Concrete filled steel tube column in etabs and i want to apply cyclic load of specific values at top of column axially downward...how to apply it?
i tried time history but it applies the load as accelration as ground motion.
but in time history analysis, etabs takes ground acceralation in X , Y and Z direction with respect to value of G. but i want to apply ap top of colum.
1. Assign a unit load (in a specific load pattern, make it different with dead load) on desired direction at top of column.
2. Define a cyclic load time history function. You can input manually the time (as the steps) and value.
3. Define linear/nonlinear time history case. In the time history load case window, make the Load Type as Load Pattern, Load Name as the name of load pattern in which your unit load was assigned, Function as your cyclic load time history, and Scale Factor depends on whether your cyclic load is as units or already the final load value. Adjust the number and size of time step to be aligned with your cyclic load.
