I'd like to identify crop varieties which are tolerant against salinity at field level. Say, I've 15 maize varieties which are sown on a RCB design with 3 replications. Among them I have to select variety(ies) which are tolerant to salinity (e.g. tolerant, moderate, susceptible). Noted soil salinity (ECe) at germination was 2.38 dS/m and at harvest >10 dS/m. After harvest, in terms of yield is it possible to select or categorize varieties against salinity through multivariate technique (e.g. PCA, biplot, cluster analysis)?
N.B.: I've read a paper (attached), where they used multivariate techniques as indirect method to select common bean against soil acidity.
