Briefly, cellulolytic bacterial cultures were inoculated into a flask containing minimal media (containing K2HPO4, KH2PO4, MgSO4.7H2O, NaCl, NaNO3 and CaCO3) supplemented with biochar (as sole C source). At the end of incubation, the whole medium was poured onto a filter paper to retrieve the biochar powder.

I intend to analyse the changes of functional group of the degraded biochar via FTIR. Can anyone suggest a washing/rinsing procedure to remove the residual media without significantly affecting the FTIR spectra? Is rinsing with distilled water sufficient?
