Hello everyone! I used pyridine as solvent to synthesize my product 6-(dimethylamino)-2-(4-ethynylphenyl)-1H-benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3(2H)-dione, then I evaporated it but it wasn't remove as I check crude product in nmr. It left large amount of pyridine in the product. How can I remove pyridine?

You can not remove pyridine by evoparating process. Because it boiling point is 115oc. You can try with extraction process with ice cold water. It might be remove pyridine. If it will not remove you can separate by using column chromatography method.
Dear Yuvin, normally you could dissolve your product in diethyl ether and then wash the solution with dilute hydrochloric acid. However, since your product has a basic dimethylamino group, this is perhaps not a good idea. The boiling point of pyridine isn't that high. Drying your product at slightly elevated temperature (e.g. 40-50 °C) under vacuum should also be possible. I assume that the best way to get rid of the residual pyridine is recrystallization of your product e.g. from diethyl ether, toluene, or acetonitrile etc. Is the product known from the literature? If yes, please check the reference to find out which solvents might be suitable for recrystallization..
