Our Thermo LTQ FT magnet has an ice bridge between the Helium and Nitrogen sections which causes it to need more and more Helium. Is there a way to remove this ice bridge without shutting the whole instrument down which Thermo doesn't recommend?
W. Spahl Unfortunately, removing an ice bridge without completely shutting down a superconducting magnet may be difficult and risky. You may get in touch with them by going to https://www.thermofisher.com/contact-us.html, their website.

Thermo already said that they don't think it's worth to shut down and restart the whole instrument as it is rather old and not supported by them anymore.
