Ammonia and phosphate levels of pond water could be effectively reduced by water hyacinth (Eichhornia sp.), azolla (Azolla microphylla) and papaya (Carica papaya) stem. Water hyacinth with papaya stem reduced ammonia by 67% and nitrate by 74%. Azolla with papaya stem reduced phosphate concentration in water by 80%.
