Hi,
I'm looking to prepare a working concentration of 5ng/ml of PMA from Sigma's PMA (P8139).
How do I go about this? Please advise. I have also provided a link to the relevant data sheet below.

We use DMSO solution of 0.1 mM as a stock for many years.
Just add known volume of DMSO to vial with PMA to achieve concentration f.e. 20 mM as recommended manual. Be careful during opening and working with it. Mask and cloves are obligatory.
So, if you have 5 mg in vial and you add 1 ml of DMSO you get 5 mg/ml or (5g/l/617 g/mol=0.0081 mol/l OR 8.1 mM). Keep this vial under - 20 or -70.
You need final conc. of 5 ng/ml thus simple calculation will tell you what you have to dilute stock 1:1000000 and it is not good news if you want to prepare 10 ml of media. So you need to dilute stock 1:1000 (5 ug/ml) and use this diluted stock to prepare working solution (5 ng/ml).
The final DMSO concentration in working media should be less then 0.1% so dilution of 1:1000 is good and very nice for calculations.
